Hi, I’m Megan, a vintage human living in a digital world. I am a researcher specializing in psychology and information science who has spent a decade working with children and adolescents in libraries and nonprofits.

My childhood was analog, no social media, no smart phones, and I waited a full week for new tv episodes to be released. Not everything was better back then. But what I’m interested in exploring is how technology changes the way we grow as humans. With the dawn of AI, I’m curious what parts of our human nature we will carry with us, and what parts of ourselves, if we’re not careful, may be left behind.

If we wait for published research studies on the long term effects of AI on human development, we will be waiting for years while our children are in the largest uncontrolled experiment of our lifetimes.

The Cybernetic Human is a place where we can have discussions about what behavioral science research might suggest about what to look out for, potential risks and benefits of AI usage.

Every major technological leap throughout history forced us to reimagine the World of Tomorrow. And the questions we ask (or don’t ask) in this critical moment will determine whether we move forward with intentionality as active participants in our future, or whether we simply allow the future to happen to us, regardless of the consequences.
